How do you lose a pine tree?
Think about it.........
Legend tells us nomadic Native Americans planted pine
seedlings as they migrated west from the pine forests of east
Texas. They did this in order to overcome the feeling of home
sickness.
Some people believe the deposit of acidic, sandy soil came
from glacial movements at the peak of the ice age, but glaciers
never advanced as far south as Texas. This is why the land is
so flat and all the lakes in Texas, except Caddo lake, are man
made.
The only thing we know for sure, is that we are truly blessed to
have our loblolly pine forest, and we should do our part to
protect and maintain it for future generations.
The Hayatt Regency Lost Pines resort and spa hotel is built on a
405 acre plot covered in beautiful pecan and oak trees in a town
called cedar creek.............
Bastrop county has two ghost towns, McDuff and Oak Hill.........
Mr. Luecke wanted his name to be seen from space so he cut
down all the pine trees on his ranch in Bastrop county, except the
ones that spell his name. The name spans over two square miles
and can be viewed in Google Earth.......................
